Shonyah Hawkins-Cottman receives award from Central Penn College

Shonyah Hawkins-Cottman, a Central Penn College corporate communications major from Mechanicsburg, Pa., was awarded the Dr. C. Delores Tucker award for community service at a Black History Month program Feb. 4. Hawkins-Cottman is a member of the Central Pennsylvania Coalition United to Fight Cancer, 'CATALYST' and has served the community as a talented emcee for local neighborhood gatherings and multiple times at the college. She is a public relations board member for the Neighborhood Center of the United Methodist Church and is often asked to speak around the city. Hawkins-Cottman is a woman on a mission to finish her degree, remain on the dean's list and in spite of the things she has suffered through with her family, she still remains focused and dedicated to achieving her scholastic goals.
