Braedon Thomas named Central Penn College's Athlete of the Month

2017 Apr 5

Braedon Thomas, from Enola, Pa., has been named the February Athlete of the Month for Central Penn College. Thomas grew up in Harrisburg, Pa., attended Central Dauphin High School and is majoring in business administration with a concentration in marketing. He started playing baseball at the age of 10 and played football and basketball growing up.

Thomas makes the word student in front of athlete his top priority. He has made the Dean's List all 11 terms he has been at Central Penn College. He has been named to the National All-Academic team for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Balancing college, baseball and work is not easy for Thomas, but "it is worth it."

Central Penn's accelerated schedule of terms has allowed Thomas to graduate with a bachelor's degree in just three years, finishing his coursework after the spring term. Thomas has been a part of the intercollegiate baseball program all three years with the Knights.

"Thomas has been a valuable asset to the baseball team because he is able to play multiple positions," says Harry Hitz, CPC baseball coach.

"I love the game of baseball because this is where I went to escape any troubles growing up," says Thomas. "I love all aspects of the game and try to bring a smile and fire to my teammates."

Thomas's hobbies outside of baseball include cooking, playing and following all sports, and adding to his unique sock collection, "that his head coach loves."

Thomas said his inspiration is a close family friend that he considers his mother, "Momma Pumpkin." Growing up he had to overcome a lot of adversity and after dealing with injuries and other things he quit baseball after his junior year in high school and had no desire to go to college. After talking it over with Momma Pumpkin and getting her advice on how adversity will make you a stronger man, four years later he almost has his bachelor's degree in business and has returned to playing baseball.
